Untitled Punch Man Game (name still pending) is a shooter platformer heavily inspired by the Megaman X Series. After playing through *almost* all of the Megaman X games ("BURN IT TO THE GROUND" made me stop), I wanted to make one of my own. This is my starting attempts on something similar but with a twist - make punching a central mechanic...
...Currently, punching is NOT a central mechanic. It has its uses, but I'm not an artist, and I didn't want to spend too much time on something that I'll have to change later on. Eventually, I'll get someone to make some nice crispy sprites and then punching will be improved. For right now, shooting is the place to BE!
You are THE "Punch Guy"! He's got big ol' fists that let him shoot his fingers off and climb up walls! Utilize your dash to climb walls, evade enemy bullets, and get up close to finish them off with an uppercut! Punches can also be used to deflect certain enemy bullets! Lastly, your power gloves glow green when they're ready to climb a wall!

CONTROLLER:
D-Pad. Down allows you to duck.
Left Face button - Shoot. Hold down to charge!
Buttom Face Button - Jump
Right Face Button - Punch. Tap twice to perform a two-hit combo
L1/Left bumper - Dash. Must be holding either left or right to perform a dash. Let go of the direction to stop your dash early. Dashing in the air allows you to dash straight forward, while dashing on the ground and then jumping will give you a wider jump arc.
Start Button - Pause
L2 + R2/ Back Triggers Together - Resets the room; in case of getting stuck.
KEYBOARD:
WASD for movement. Down for ducking
J OR Left Mouse Button - Shoot
K OR Shift - Dash
L OR Right Mouse Button - Punch
Enter - Pause
R - Restarts the room
If you want to play with a controller, make sure its plugged in before you start it up. PLEASE NOTE - PS5 and XBOX Series X controllers DO NOT WORK. I've had my friends play test it and neither work with Game Maker Studio at this time. Keyboard controls work, I just think it works better on a controller.
I wanted to get a couple rooms out and a small boss to gauge what people thought, root out any bugs, etc.
